Drain Cleaning

The cheapest drain call-out is the one you never need to make.

Call 010 500 1849

Drain cleaning is what you do so that blocked drains stop being part of your year. Where a blockage clearance is reactive and urgent, cleaning is planned, scheduled and considerably cheaper — particularly for kitchens, guesthouses and buildings with shared waste stacks.

We jet lines back to their full internal diameter, remove the fat, scale and biofilm that narrow them over time, and record the condition of the system so you can see it improving rather than degrading year on year.

Full-bore restoration

Jetting removes the layered build-up on the pipe wall, restoring flow capacity that snaking never touches.

Odour control

Most persistent drain smells come from biofilm and trapped organic matter, both of which jetting eliminates.

Predictable budgeting

A scheduled service is a known annual cost. Emergency clearance at 9pm on a Saturday is not.

Condition tracking

Each visit is documented so deterioration is caught while it is still a repair rather than a replacement.

How drain cleaning actually works

Waste pipes do not stay the size they were installed at. Fats and oils cool and cling to the pipe wall, soap and hair bind to them, and in hard-water areas scale adds another layer. A 110mm line can be effectively operating at 60mm long before anything visibly blocks, which is why the first blockage feels sudden and then keeps recurring.

For homes, an annual or biennial jet of the kitchen and main line is usually enough. For restaurants and commercial kitchens, quarterly is realistic, and grease traps need separate scheduled attention. Multi-tenant buildings and complexes benefit from a full-stack service with a survey included, since blockages there affect several units and escalate into disputes quickly.

We also use scheduled visits to catch things you would not otherwise see: a bellied section beginning to hold water, a root hairline at a joint, a slow deterioration in an old clay line. Catching those early is exactly what our preventative maintenance plans are designed to do, and it is far cheaper than an emergency excavation.

Common issues we see

  • Gradual reduction in drainage speed across a building
  • Recurring blockages in the same line
  • Persistent drain odours despite cleaning fixtures
  • Grease trap overflow in commercial kitchens
  • Slow-draining shared stacks in complexes
  • Silted stormwater lines after summer rain

When to call us immediately

  • Your drains have been cleared more than once in a year
  • You run a kitchen, laundry, salon or guesthouse
  • You manage a complex or commercial building
  • You are taking transfer of a property with unknown drain history
  • Drains are noticeably slower than they were last season

Our process

What happens after you call

  1. 1

    System assessment

We map access points, fixture connections and problem lines before selecting a cleaning schedule.

  2. 2

    High-pressure jetting

Lines are jetted at appropriate pressure for the pipe material back to full bore.

  3. 3

    Verification survey

A camera confirms the result and records the pipe condition for comparison next visit.

  4. 4

    Schedule and report

You receive a report and a recommended interval based on what we actually found, not a generic plan.

Frequently asked questions

How often should drains be professionally cleaned?

Homes: every one to two years. Restaurants and commercial kitchens: quarterly. Multi-unit buildings: annually with a survey. We tailor the interval after the first visit.

Is high-pressure jetting safe for old pipes?

Yes, when the pressure is matched to the material. We survey first on older clay or asbestos-cement systems and adjust accordingly rather than applying a single setting everywhere.

Will jetting fix a collapsed drain?

No. Jetting clears obstructions but cannot repair structural failure. If the camera shows a collapse, it needs excavation or relining, which we quote separately.

Do you service grease traps?

We do, including scheduled servicing for restaurants along with the waste lines feeding them, usually outside trading hours.

Can you work outside business hours?

Yes. Most commercial drain cleaning is done early morning, late evening or over weekends to avoid disrupting operations.
