Call 010 500 1849Sewer failures are the most disruptive plumbing problem a property can have, and they are almost always the endpoint of a long, ignorable process: a hairline crack lets roots in, roots widen the crack, the joint fails, the ground settles, and eventually the line collapses.
We survey the line on camera, locate the failure precisely with a sonde so excavation is targeted rather than exploratory, and repair or replace the affected section. Where the fault is caught early, jetting and root removal through drain cleaning may buy years before any digging is needed.

How sewer repairs actually works
Most sewer failures in established northern suburbs involve older clay or fibre-cement pipe with rigid jointed sections. Ground movement, heavy vehicles over shallow runs, and mature tree root systems all act on those joints. Jacarandas, plane trees and figs are particularly aggressive, and a root mass can rebuild within a season of being cleared if the entry point remains open.
A survey tells us which category the fault falls into. Root intrusion at an otherwise sound joint may be cleared and the joint sealed. A bellied section holding water needs re-laying to correct the fall. A collapse or a fractured section needs replacement, and in some cases a full run makes more sense than repeated spot repairs on a line that is clearly at end of life.
For complexes and commercial properties we produce a report suitable for trustees or facilities managers: what has failed, where, what it will cost, and what happens if it is deferred. Recurring blockages that keep being cleared as emergency call-outs almost always work out more expensive than fixing the line once.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a sewer repair cost?
It depends almost entirely on depth, access and length. A targeted spot repair is a fraction of a full re-lay, which is exactly why we locate precisely before quoting.
Will you damage my garden or paving?
Excavation is kept as small as the repair allows, and we reinstate afterwards. Paving is lifted carefully and relaid where possible.
Is a sewer repair covered by insurance?
Sudden damage is sometimes covered; gradual deterioration and root intrusion usually are not. The survey report gives your insurer the detail to assess it.
Can a sewer line be repaired without digging?
In some cases, using relining, provided the pipe is intact enough to accept a liner. A survey determines whether that is viable.
Who pays in a complex or estate?
It depends on whether the failure is on private or common property. Our survey establishes the location, which is what trustees need to apportion the cost.
